ace_plc.mdb missing- Installed again and again

File ACE_PLC.MDB is missing from my installation. I checked under my directory "C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 2005\R16.1\enu\Support\AeData" and found only the sub-directories "Catalog" and "Proj". I should note that we are loading the application from our network.
How do you update these MDB files from Autodesk?

If you are installing from a network, chances are someone created a
network deployment image. If someone has, then it appears as though they
had also setup to share the databases and symbols somewhere in a central
location for all users to access, with this setup, several files, including
the plc mdb file will not be located on your local machine. I would suggest
contacting the person whom created the install image on the network to see
where they shared the files at. In addition, you may be able to find where
they are by looking at your AutoCAD support paths. (TOOLS > OPTIONS > FILES
> "SUPPORT FILE SEARCH PATH") The first path listed here should be the
share location.

I hope this helps!!

You can edit the PLC's by using the PLC DATABASE FILE EDITOR that is
included in the product. You can locate the command by using the pull down
menu, COMPONENTS>INSERT PLC MODULES>PLC DATABASE FILE EDITOR

Jared thanks for the help.
Does Autodesk update the mdb? If so where do we go to get an update from Autodesk? Thanks again.

At this time, any content update to the AutoCAD Electrical product are
included with each new release. Since we know that customers will edit the
data that is shipped with ACE, and in many cases add their own as well,
AutoCAD Electrical has a merge utility built in that can be used to easily
merge the databases when the time comes to upgrade to the lates and greatest
version available. I believe that this utility was introduced in the 2005
release.

Hi,

I am a student and downloaded the student version of Electrical Cad. I am now trying to work in it and need to insert the PLC but it is not there.

Please, advise what to do. I have a homework to finish.

Many thanks in advance.

Hello Shalva,

What exactly it means "need to insert the PLC but it is not there." mean ? You could not find the PLC database ace_PLC.mdb or you do not know where to find the Insert PLC feature. I just want to understand your current state as AutoCAD Electrical has couple of ways by which you can insert PLC. Try to use "AEPLC" command to insert a block plc or "AEPLCP" to insert PLC using parametric plc modules in drawing.
