If I have ACADE2008 open and attempt to open a new file from a folder, a new application opens with it as opposed to opening the file in the ACADE2008 app already running. I have looked at the tools menu under folder options and checked the box marked "Open each folder in the same window."
I don't think that that windows has anything to do with it.
Look at file types tab in folder options (it's the last tab in my windows). Find DWG and there it should say AutoCAD DWG Launcher.
Also if you have different versions of ACADE like 2007,2006 don't open them if your 2008 is open. It might trigger the wrong version.
