ACADE 2013 DOES NOT INSERT THE CONDUCTOR ID

HI THERE,

I HAVE AN ALTRNATIVE CATALOG DATABASE WHERE I HAVE DEFINED  MY OWN CABLES. WHEN I LOOK UP CABLES FROM THE ALTERNATIVE CATALOG FILE ACADE DOES NOT PICK UP NOR INSERT THE DEFINED CONDUCTOR ID´S FOR SOME REASON?

ANYONE ELSE SEEN THIS BEHAVIOUR?

THX, GARY

Hi Gary,

Is the AlternateCatalog in the same path as the Original Catalog.

Or atleast in one of the defined support paths.

I have seen issues when the catalog was assigned in the project file, but did not reside in a support path and it did the same thing.

Let me know,

Hi James,

yes the alternaive catalog is in the same directory and I have no problems defining the partnumber. Also when I have defined what cable I can press the coductor list button and observe that the conductor list is ok. But after pressing Ok in the insert/edit cable marker dialog box, ACADE discards conductor ID and inserts the cable markers without the ID?

Looking forward to see your remarks.

Regards, Gary

Hi Gary,

So the Child components are not Picking up the assigned Wire colours?

Can you post a screenshot of the Cable in Table "C0" and the "W0_Cables" with its colours maybe there was a typo in  the first entry?

Let me know,

James Alger

Hi James,

attached is a screenshot of the insert/edit cable marker dialog box.

I tried to attach the catalog file but it´s popably to big to send through the forum.

I hope this explains at least a little more what I´m seeing.

Thank´s again for your interest and  help.

Regards, Gary

James,

I´m sorry I misunderstood what screeenshots you asked for.

Attached are 2 more for further information.

I hope this is as you mention caused by a typo...but I cant seem to get an eye on it...

I hope you see something I dont.

Thank´s again, Gary

Hi Gary,

The entries look fine to me.

So the database is ok, I do have a quick question that i just thought of;

did you install SP2 for Autocad Electrical 2013?

I have seen a few cases of it in the last couple of weeks, where the database in AutoCAD electrical is screwed up even though its fine in the access database. (If you have installed SP2, Uninstall it and try it again).

Let me know,

Hi James,

I wasn´t aware that the SP2 was available so I just installed it and tried again but with the same result I´m sorry to say.

Have you tried this procedure on your workstation and if so does it work?

Thank´s again.

Regards, Gary

Hi Gary,

I actually mentioned SP2 because I thought it might be the Problem....not the solution...LOL.

I was able to make a custom cable on my end, that calls out the colour scheme I created.

From the start I have been meaning to take Screenshots to show you a custom one I did for fun)

See the Screenshots below:

W0_Table.png

(First Create the Cable in the "W0" Table)

W0_CBLWIRES_table.png

(Next Fill in the Cable colours, I think the conductor size has to match what you put in "W0")

W0_Results - Cable marker.png

(After that place in a cable marker and choose to place the Children at the same time)

Like I said it doesn't look like you should have any problems the entries looked fine to me (even though your gauge is slight different). I would try changing the gauge to match what is typed into the "W0" table.

let me know,

James Alger

Hi James and thank´s for the effort.

I just wanted to ask if you are defining the new cable in the alternative lookup catalog?

It´s not a problem to define new cables in the default catalog but the issue appears when I lookup in the alternative catalog database (see attached image)

Thank´s again for the effort Smiley Wink

Hi Gary,

I double checked mine and I actually had that example in both databases.

I'll rip out the one from my main database and post my result when I can.

I did want to ask another question for the alt Catalog you set up.

(not that you didn't do this in advance but just as a double check)

Did you leave the old table structure intact?

(i.e. did you leave the empty PB, CR LT, etc tables )

They should alway be a part of the database even if they are empty.

In fact your table structure should be exactly the same as the main database (but it can and should have empty tables).

I'll post my results later today, with the data only coming from the alt catalog.

I hope this helps,

James Alger

Hi Gary,

After removing the data from the Main Catalog and having it only in the Alt Catalog I see the same issue as you; the Conductor Cable colours are ingnored.

Well not that it is a fix, but I know it works when you have it in both the Main and the Alt catalog...

I'll take some time and see what else I can find.
