Acad crashing when publishing pdfs, but only certain projects

When I use publish on the "Project Manager" palette, I have an issue only with certain projects when publishing to pdf. It always crashes.

It is always random which projects it "picks" to do this with....We set everything up the same way each time so I have no idea why it is picking random projects to "crash" I can publish to our copier just fine. Smiley Frustrated

With random crashes you will struggle to pin down the issue but

check the file sizes anything above 1mB in size for a schmeatic page i would purge

run a script file through project wide utilities to zoom extents

open notepad and save the following with . scr extension

_CLAYER
0
_.ZOOM
_EXTENTS
_.QSAVE

this will give you a clue anything of the page off the page plot frame

also try a different pdf driver i use pdf redirect or primo pdf  as alternatives to the autodesk pdf driver see whethter that makes a difference

otherwise you will have to keep going until you can consitantly replicate the crash

Thank you,
I don't really understand the "run a script file" action you mentioned.
I see the box to click on in the project utilities but I don't know what to do after that, and I'm afraid of messing up my project.
Could you elaborate?

Are you running publishing to PDF in the background? Try unchecking the "publish in background" checkbox.

This is a common problem with the 2013 model which I myself struggled with for a while. If you are trying to publish in the background it will most likely crash.

Uncheck the "publish in background" box and this should fix it. Or you could update your system to the 2014 model which I believe they have fixed this bug.
