Have you tried running the software on an earlier version of Windows. When
2009 came out, Windows 7 had not been released so it may not be completely
compatible with the new OS.
You mentioned that several students are experiencing the problem. Are they
all running Windows 7?
Is it always the same functions on the different computer systems that cause
the error?
Did you look at the download site where the package came from to see if
there is a service pack or patch there?
Get the students to check that the drivers for all their hardware is fully
up to date. Out of date drivers can cause problems with no warning.
On a side note, ACAD Electrical 2010 has been released. Have any of the
students thought about upgrading to the new version to see if that fixes the
problem?

Are there special service packs for the software available for download in
the school section of the Autodesk website.
A few of my students have download Autocad Electrical 2009 and are
experiencing Fatal Errors and cannot open the software anymore. Everything
was fine for little while.
I downloaded SP3 for Autocad Electrical but upon installing it, the service
pack did not recognize the software on the pc. He is running Windows 7.
It's a brand new pc with all the bells and whistles.
