Along these same lines...
It would be WAY coold if there could be some sort of smart object collision
detection. That is, when you place something one a drawing there is a
'buffer' so that other smart text cannot go on top of it. It could either be
a warning on the screen of collision and allow you to zoom into the area (a
la the panorama), or smart, so it will auto put the items in another
location. I know, perhaps Civil4D 2020.

Working with the annotation text in 2008 gives me a couple of new ideas!
1.) Wish: How about having the ability to grip a label style and have the
little triangle grip show. Inside of this triangle grip would be a listing
of different predefined text heights available for the label. Somewhat like
a multi-block that has multiple block definitions. This would eliminate the
need for numerous label styles that only have the difference being their
text heights.
2.) Wish: To add to the above wish would be to go one step farther and give
the user the ability to add a user defined variable for this. So instead of
changing the text height you could have the label change its default
offsets, which could give the ability to have the text be above the line or
below the line of right on the line. Or maybe this would be a predefined
list of layers; this would give us the choice of having the label go on a
existing layer instead of a proposed layer. I.e. proposed storm sewer or
proposed storm sewer that is grayed out instead.
3.) Wish: Along these same lines but now give us the power to grip edit the
label locations based on the current mview scale (Too keep the larger text
from overlapping). Just like what AutoCAD 2008 allows us to do with standard
annotation text. This has got to be one of the coolest new features of
AutoCAD 2008! So let us do the same with our C3D label styles.
More to come! I have a notebook with more wishes that I need to decipher!
