Please find a way to prevent users from creating automatically appended names for civil 3d objects, especially alignments, profiles, assemblies & corridors. I have to actually make it part of my curriculum to show students the pitfalls of this. It is a nightmare for new users who are unaware, and then have so many "Name (1), Name (2), Name (3)... objects, of which some don't have any associated geometry. It's a tedious hassle in corridor parameters & targeting to decipher which named object is the right one, then to go back and delete "empty names". It also makes the experience for the new student an uncessary one. When creating the named object (profile for example), the software should warn the user that, "duplicate names not allowed"... or something like that.
