Matchline Label Modification. PLEASE!!!

Not being able to change what sheet is used as "previous" or "next" is a major overlook on the usability of creating sheets. The matchlines should be linked to the layouts in the current drawing as well as be able to select a layout from any drawing manually if needed. An ability to insert additional viewframes after the original group has been created would be nice also.

Well back to manually labeling matchlines on 120+ sheets aaaaarrrgg!

You aren't using sheet set manager?

I am, and I wish for this wish, too.

See the thread started by Lisa Pohlmeyer on March 19, 2009 with the subject
"View Frames & Sheet Sets" for an explanation.

In Civil 3D matchlines and viewframes are inextricably linked which
precludes modifications to the next/previous sheets. If you really need
a matchline label to point to a different layout instead of the actual
viewframe it is associated with, then mtext + a sheet set field would do
the trick.

More information on your use case may help.

You can do this by inserting individual view frames, but I suspect what
you are looking for is inserting a batch of viewframes at the same time?
If you don't have an option to insert view frames, you may be on C3D
2008 which did not have that ability.

If you can explain to me how one would use mtext + a sheet set field to reference
the next or previous sheet (what a matchline needs to do), I am all ears. I may be
wrong on this, but i would need to create the mtext field in paperspace for it to be
able to know what the current sheet is, and the only available sheet set fields reference
the current sheet. No next or previous sheet. Having it label what the current sheet
does me no good for a matchline.

No, I am able to insert viewframes if i need one, however, if you need to add one after
sheets have been created, your out of luck. Using 2010 BTW. Also if you have ever
had the misfortune of re-naming or moving a sheet set file, you would say something
needs to be fixed there as well. But thats a whole other can of worms.

thanks for your suggestions. -mike

Adding and modifying viewframes would be great.
