Ability to select multiple individual points (NOT groups) by number through QSelect

Not wanting to put these points in a separate point
group, just wishing to identify and locate all numbers above x or below w or
between y and z.

Civil 3D 2006 (and hoping that it's already
available in 2007)...

Hi Trevor,

I posted the VBA code to do this on 6 May in
the Civil 3D NG under the header "Snapping to Points in  a Point
group"

It would be quite easy to put that code into a
program which enabled you to select the points and then do whatever you like
with them.

Thanks Laurie. I don't speak VBA (working on it 😉
) so I didn't really look at the code when you posted it, but on closer
inspection it looks like just what I'm after: I shall try to implement
it.

Many thanks,

Trevor

Unfortunately, only senior management and
fast-talking CE's
 get interstate junkets
<G>. My boss isn't convinced we _need_ the ability anyway, which is
probably true enough for what we do. Guess I'm stuck with the tutorials...

He may change his tune the day you save his bacon
with VBA.  😉

Hi Tom,

I have to agree there is a potential there.
But unless users are given the opportunity to see what the tools can do and have
the imagination to see how they can use them, then the status quo will
remain.

You only need to look in the newsgroups to see
questions like:

"Can I use Lisp to draw  a line?", where the
real question should be - why am I doing this wiith 10 steps and re-entering the
data several times and how much will it save me if I only enter the data once in
a one step process.

I cannot imagine an office using AutoCAD wherein a
work analysis would not demonstrate that customisation would not improve
productivity with a high economic return.

Whether the customisation is done by VBA or other
means doesn't matter, the thought that it isn't needed is the disaster
arising from ignorant managers.

Amen!

I'm always amazed by the number of people using
Acad 'out of the box', not realizing what is possible with a little bit of
effort and knowledge and the comment is usually either "I don't really have time
to learn it" or "I've never really had a need for that stuff".........both
laughable if you're using this app 40 or more hours a week.

To the OP:  Do not get discouraged.
There are many good regulars in this group always willing to help.  Even if
your current employer never realizes it, your next one may.  On top of
that, you'll be amazed at how much knowledge of Acad you gain once you start
digging into customization.  It gives you an entirely different perspective
and makes being an 'operator' much easier.
