3D POLYLINE LINETYPE GENERATION

Holly cow!!!
How long have people been asking for this one? A quick search on the DG says about 10yrs. I know I've been asking and waiting for about 14yrs. Today was finally my breaking point.
Since we implemented C3D I have cursed this limitation for the simple reason you cannot apply a linetype to a corridor featureline (ie toes of cut or fill). We have sine modified our standard to use a continuous linetype with a color. WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO DO THAT??
Any how my frustration is at a high today as I was importing GIS shape files for various utilities. In order for me to apply a linetype to each of these (as they are for the most part 3D polylines) I am going to have to convert all of them to 2D polylines - there by losing all the extended object data associated with each object. Excuse me for saying so, but that is rediculous!!!!
Is the programing really THAT tough?? When can we expect a solution?

You can expect it whenever the AutoCAD team decides that it's important
enough to fix, if it's even possible. This isn't a Civil 3D issue, it's a
base AutoCAD issue. Personally, my feelings are if it hasn't been done
yet, it's not likely to get done.

There's no glamor in it. It's like being the guy that follows the
elephants in the parade.

I haven't tried this, yet, but why can't you create a feature line style
with a linetype and apply it to your daylight_cut or daylight_fill code?

(Putting a linetype into a feature line style worked............I just
didn't try putting it into a corridor.)

I have been waiting for this feature since I got saddled with AutoCAD R11 some 15 years ago. Micostation has had no problems with this since day one.

Frankly I feel that they simply couldn't care a less or it would have been done years ago. I have similar issues with a simple 3D arc/fillet and mod command, which still has limitations today.

In 2011, Feature Lines and Survey Figures now display linestyles, which is great, however there is no linetypegen on those objects. So if you have short segments you still end up with effectively continuous lines, or sporadic spacing on the style.

Does anyone at Autodesk field test these new features or what? As others have mentioned this is no issue in Microstation.
