Rim elevations changed using 'Assign Node Invert Elevations'

Hi

We have recently bought Civil 3D suite along with SSA. We have created the network by assigning a surface model in Civil 3D and imported to SSA for analysis. We are intending to change the node elevations during analysis. When using the command 'Assign Node Invert Elevations', the invert elevations are changed and related rim elevations changed too. Is there any way to delink the rim elevations for using this command so that we still have the orginal ground surface levels retained. Please suggest on how to delink the rim elevations during the creation in Civil 3D or during analysis within SSA. Also is there any way if we can import the original ground surface elevation from Civil 3D subsequent to the analysis with in SSA to compare the changed rim levels with the  original ground elevations.

Grateful for help!

If I understand correctly. You can edit the surface reference to all the structures in the panorama to none before export
