So here in China for the project I am working in I have a list of rainfall intensity by return period to be used presumably with the rational methods. However, I would like to use SWMM5 model so I need to find a way to get the rainfall depth for a 24hour storm by return period. how do I transform rainfall intensity (mm/hr) intended for rational method into rainfall depth (mm/day) intended for SWMM method?
I tried to make a fake rain gauge by using a subbasin with an area of 1ha and divide the runoff by area to get the rainfall but it was over 2x the 100yr storm. I began to read sth about unit hydrographs that sounded interesting but not sure how to make them work.
