Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis (former StormNET) is now available!

Civil 3D and Map 3D subscription customers in North America can now download
Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Stand-Alone.

Looking forward to using this group to talk about the product and your
projects!

head over to www.autodesk.com/subscription to download the extension!

If you aren't sure if you are on subscription, ask your CAD manager or
Autodesk reseller.

The Autodesk® Storm and Sanitary Analysis Stand-Alone 2011 Extension is a
comprehensive, hydrodynamic hydrology and hydraulic analysis application for
planning and designing urban drainage systems, storm sewers including
highway drainage systems, and sanitary sewers.

With this extension, engineers and planners using AutoCAD® Civil 3D® and/or
AutoCAD® Map 3D software can analyze both simple and complex networks
including:
? Inlets and catch basins
? Detention ponds and outlet structures
? Interconnected ponds
? Flow dividers, standpipes, weirs, and orifices
? Pumps and lift stations
? Manholes and junctions
? Rivers, streams, and ditches
? Culverts and bridges

Some of the key features and benefits of the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary
Analysis Stand-Alone Extension are:
? Bi-directional exchange of data with AutoCAD Map 3D and AutoCAD Civil 3D
? No limitation on the number of pipes or elements you can include in your
model
? Widely-accepted SWMM analysis engine
? Broad range of hydrologic methods
? Stormwater BMPs
? Detention pond design
? Stormwater quality modeling
? Customizable report generation for regulatory review
? GIS interoperability
? Work in either US or Metric (SI) units

Will the Storm and Sanitary Analysis replace Storm Sewers, Hydrographs, and Express?

Storm Sewers, Hydrographs, and Express are included in Civil 3D 2011 just as
they were last year.

Right. So now we have two pieces of software for modeling storm systems and hydrology. Seems like Autodesk will eventually pick one.

We toyed many times with purchasing StormNET because of it's apparent advantages over the former Intelisolve suite, and we were glad to see Autodesk purchase StormNET. I guess we will just have to get into SSA and see which one we prefer, my guess is SSA.

Each program has as different focus. They do overlap, but people still
use Excel spreadsheets for storm sewers as well.

Are there any demo videos or recorded web casts showing the features of SSA? I work for a fairly large firm and it's going to take some work convincing everyone to convert from what we use now.

Dana has some videos here:

What do you currently have/us?

In the readme file it states that you need to install the Civil Object Enabler for AutoCAD to display Civil 3D objects. 2 questions: is this only for custom civil 3d objects? and where is this OE located? I can't find it on adsk's website. Thanks.

Yes, the Object Enabler is only required to display custom Civil 3D objects - like pipes, structures, surfaces, C3D labels, etc. You don't need it to display plain AutoCAD entities.

Unfortunately, the Civil 2011 Object Enabler is not yet available... it should be shortly.
In the meantime other options are described in the ReadMe:
1. Turn on PROXYGRAPHICS, or
2. From Civil 3D use Export to AutoCAD to create a separate file to bring into SSA.
Once the OE is available you shouldn't have to do either of these.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,
Charlie Ogden, P.E.

There are no current plans to support Autodesk Storm & Sanitary Analysis on Civil 3D 2009 or 2010.

SSA looks for Civil 3D 2011 to be installed, but you don't necessarily need
to use Civil 3D 2011 to use SSA. stm and LandXML should be fine going back
and forth to 2010 as far as I know. Charlie? Matt?

The Hydraflow Extensions are still available in the 2011 product.

SSA will check to see if AutoCAD Civil 3d 2011 or Map 3d 2011 are
installed when SSA launched.

The source of your data is up to you and is not dependent on 2011
products. (ie, ESRI shape files or LandXML files can be loaded)
