Xrefed alignment ticks inherit properties of current layer

Do your xrefed alignment ticks inherit the properties of your current layer.

I am curious how widespread this issue is. Has a cause/resolution been found?

As another said, the current layer can be changed to "0" before plotting to make sure the xrefed ticks plot OK.

I am seeing this behavior in Civil 3D 2012.

It's a known problem; has been for a while. It affects not only your ticks but all blocks within label styles.

To avoid that problem that label style cannot use layer 0 in the General tab.

Hi Mathewk-

Thank for your input.

I have done some more troubleshooting, and I have narrowed down what is causing the issue.

In my case, it is not the layer set in the General TAB (it is not 0) but the properties of the tickmark entity itself.

I exploded the tickmark block and changed the entity layer from 0 to another layer.

I also had to change the entity color and linetype from BYBLOCK to BYLAYER.

I redefined the tickmark block and no longer have the issue.
