Hi I xrefed my surface to my sheet file and
everything except the contours show, I evan tried a data shortcut to no avail. I
checked vp layers and thawed /on all layers but no contours... is this an issue;
xrefereferencing in ....that couldn't be right?

Thanks

I am not aware of any issues with this Joe. Did you check the surface style?
Are you sure the contours are turned on in the style?

Is your style or dwg setup configured to place these items on a layer that
does not exist in the dwg?

This is freaking me out - I'm about this close to exploding my surface. Its
such a tiny job - I'm going to have my head handed to me when the invoices
go out. But I digress, nothing seems to be out of order

Before attaching your file as xref, you need to switch on the display for contours in xref file (original file) and save it.
then try attaching it as xref.

I am having the exact same issue in civil 3d 2013. Was there ever a resolution for this?

Have you tried:
Close the drawing and reopen?
Recover the drawing?
Audit the drawing?
Close the program and start it again?
Shut down the machine and reboot?

I have tried all of the above. It seems to be a corrupted style, though I have not proven this yet. I can change the style to a default style, and it will display, even if I use the exact same layers and colors, etc. in the style. If the problem does not come back, I'll call it solved.

This thread has been going on for a very long time, so I figured I would continue it.  I had these same issues and I am using C3D 2016.  I used the "levelofdetailoff" command and it fixed it. Even though I never used the "levelofdetail" command to begin with.

Another solution for this issue could be that the file was orginally started from a CAD file and the display settings need to be adjusted.

Try "DISPLAYCONFIG"

then "DR" for drawing defaults

under medium detail select Model then

select the Display Representation Control

~check all boxes

Repeat these steps for Plan
