Windows Vista

I am attempting to get C3D 2007 to work in Vista Business. I did a clean
install with Vista, then installed C3D. Installed C3D SP3. When I try to
run C3D, I get incompatible program error. I used Compatibility Tool to
set C3D to run in WinXP, but still cannot get it to run. I check
Autodesk for fix and they appear to say wait for 2008. Now, Vista's RTM
was in October with RC1 last spring. So why is it that the 2007 version
of C3D does not work with the 2007 version of the operating system?
Anybody able to get C3D to run under Vista?

The speed of your computer is not just CPU, but the entire system. I did
not have a choice on the video card - its a portable (ThinkPad G42). My
Vista experience rating is 3.8, which should be adequate. According to
the second article on the link that you provided, disabling Aero DID
speed things up for that user, as it did for me. This is logical,
because, if you reduce the computing resources needed to maintain the
GUI, those resources are available for other applications, such as
AutoCAD, which needs quite a bit of graphics resources all by itself.

I'll interject a reason why users are wanting to run Civil3D on Vista: Most
new computers ship with Vista. Thus if you buy a new machine and want to run
C3D at home for training you are out of luck. The options are: reformat the
machine and install XP, buy a machine that has XP (which will mean
purchasing Vista later as the market migrates) or hope that ADESK provides
an update to support Vista. At this time Adesk is not offering to support
Vista for 2007.

what's the perceived benefit to running vista for CAD applications? I've
been looking at the evolution and devolution of this OS, and so far have yet
to see any compelling reasons to consider upgrading. My mission critical
apps are CAD and Civil, and so far have no idea why anyone running those
apps would consider upgrading?

Can any of you actually running Vista with adesk C3D elucidate the benefits?
