Which REgen / RegenAll?

I've always just used REgenAll, but what's the difference between Regen and Regenall? And what's the difference between an ACAD Regenall and a Civil Regenall?

REGEN will regen the current viewport and REGENALL will regen all viewports. If you are in a layout tab and in a viewport and type REGEN, only that viewport will regen and not the other viewports or paperspace. REGENALL will regen them all for you.

As for the Civil vs. AutoCAD regen commands, I don't think there is a difference, the commands are probably available in both CUI files and so it lists them both (at least that's my best guess).

To add to Brians reply, if you are in model space and use regen only the items on the screen get redrawn, with regenAll everything in the dwg database gets redrawn. If you have a dwg with a lot of entities and zoom in to a very small section the regen is quicker, other wise you may have to wait a while for everything to redraw.

Thanks Murph. I've only worked on one or two drawings that were large enough to take more than an eyeblink to REA, so I never knew the subtle distinction.
