When I add contour data to my surface, I uncheck all the boxes in "Minimize flat areas by:" except "Swapping edges", and I check the "Swapping edges" box. The next time I add contours, I have to uncheck the same boxes, and check the "Swapping edges" box. I can set the default Mid-ordinate distance, etc. but I can't find anywhere in the settings that I can preset the check boxes for minimizing flat areas. Please help. This has been driving me bonkers.
I have attached a screen snip, showing the items I want to preset.
Thanks for your help.

Navigate to the Toolspace, then the Settings tab. Scroll down to Surface and expand it. Then expand the Command folder under Surface, you can right click on any of these cammands to change the default settings and vaules. Hope this helps.

To expand upon what gunnar said, you can access those settings here:
And if you are interested, HERE is a post I created on my blog explaining my recommendations for adding contour data to a surface.
Another designer here at work checked, and those options are not availabe to him either.
Did those options only come about in 2013?
Yes, they are new in 2013.
Thanks for your help, Brian. Maybe we'll get an upgrade one of these days.
As far as creating existing surfaces from contours, I check all four as you suggest. When I'm adding contours to clean up finished grade contours (as I'm doing right now), I don't like the results of all those options turned on.
