The origin of the use of the term "Daylight" comes from laying drainage pipe at some slope where the outlet will eventually intersect the natural ground, such that water can drain out on to the natural ground.
mmm Can be used only in the USA ?
The PIARC (Permanent International Association of Road Congresses) doesnt containt any word similiar....

Here in my country we call it "talud", though, in the spanish version of civil 3D, these subassemblies are called "intersección" and are under the "Intersección" group in the tool palettes.
You could check this link and see if it adds more.
"Intersección" would, of course, be translated to "Intersection".
