Userdefined contours from datashortcut surface not working?

Hi

I have a existing ground surface drefed into a model and am trying to get a user defined contour at a set elevation

but nothing appears. I have userdefined layer on in the surface style and other ideas why it will not appear?

Checked that just after posting and the layer is on. I am 2012 I see you are in 2011 I would of thought would be something easy and not a bug

Works for me in 2012 SP1, Justin. Dumb question, I know, but does the UDC elevation exist in the surface?

yep, I can make them in the source file of the dref which is what I am doing to work round the problem and cut and paste into my working drawing. Both drawing used the same base template, maybe it is some setting used in creating the dref?

Could you send me your files? There's nothing in the data shortcut that would preclude this, so it has to be something in (or not in) the drawing.

Well now, isn't that just special? I'm seeing no reason why the UDC's shouldn't display, an Elevation analysis works ok. I do get a number of fatal errors, and subsequent Recover/Audits report as finding and fixing errors. I suspect these are stemming from the Grading Objects. I'll continue to look into this as time permits. It's not the surface, or the fact that it's dref'ed, as I can start a new drawing, dref the surface, and create/display UDC's at will.

I spoke too soon. The Surface Mask is preventing the UDC's from displaying. Remove the mask, the UDC's show up. This seems like a bug to me.

Good spotting Jeff once the mask is removed it works for me as well. I was just using the mask to cut down the surface  to reduce regen times etc as per best practice. Definitely som thing that should be fixed. I my look into cropped surfaces as well but I do not think you can crop an dref?

It's still in 2020. Any 2021  or 22 users who can confirm it is still there.
