User-Defined property in point file format editor

I am aware that if I define my user-defined properties in settings first. I can then import cogo points with user defined properties.

However what is the point of the "user-defined" field then in the Point File Format - Select Column Name box.

It seems to allow a user defined column name and everything.. But it just doesnt work!

or is it jsut broken?

I think it is there to ignore certain columns that cannot be mapped to P,N,E,Z or D or one that you want to ignore but didn't go into Excel first to remove.

Setting up user-defined properties in settings is for stuff you want to keep and label.

It would be nice if the point file format would automatically create a UDP if one were to specify a column of that type.

Mike
