undesired snap to survey (cogo) points

While adding a vertex to a survey figure, if I click too near (like within 0.5') a survey point, the new vertex snaps to the survey point and uses its point number as the new vertex. Is there a setting for this snap feature to turn it off or change the tolerance?

If this is the Object Snaps (OSNAP), hit F3 to toggle them on/off.

Turn off  rollover tips

Run CUI, under rollover tips, cogopoints, uncheck "STYLE"

Tried unchecking "STYLE" and that had no effect. Also tried unchecking all other boxes under Cogo Point and this also had no effect - still snaps to the point. Thanks for the reply.

Is your GRID OFF?

Just a wild guess. But try setting OSNAPNODELEGACY to 1.

Tried with GRID off, no difference.

In the Survey database settings under error tolerance, change the value for coordinate difference to a smaller number then try adding the point to the figure.

Chris- changing the tolerance in survey database settings had the desired effect. Thanks!

Where would I make this change as the default for new survey databases?

Step 1 - At the top of the survey database settings dialog, click the export settings button, and save the settings to a file.

Step 2 - open the user settings dialog, and look under "Survey Database Defaults"

Step 3 - make sure "Survey Database settings path" points to the location of your exported database settings.

Step 4 - change "Survey database settings" to the file created in step 1.

These settings will be used every time a new database is created.
