Unable to Reference vaulted file in drawing

Hello,

We are using Autocad Civil 3D 2010 and are also using the 2010 Vault.

We are having problems with one project in Civil 3D (project in Vault). We are trying to create a surface reference and are getting the error: "Drawing is already attached to project X."

Note: This drawing is not vaulted, only the cross section surface that has the final grade surface in it is vaulted.

When we test the same process with a new document we are able to reference the surface fine and the command shows: _AeccCreateSurfaceReference which works properly.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Jason

First I would try and detach the drawing form the project and reattaching it to the project you want it attached to.  Second, if the surface you are referencing is attached to a different project you will be unable to reference it to a different project in the vault.  Sometimes you have to create a new drawing with the same surface data to be able to use it in a different project.

Hope this kind of makes sense.  The Vault can be very helpful but can also be somewaht limiting.
