Unable to add Part Families or sizes

I don't work with Pipe Networks much and I'm a little tired as many in the northeast are. But I can't figure this out. Yesterday I added a rectangular junction structure to the pipe network. I had to add that particular size to the list but no big deal. This morning there are no rectangular junction structures in the list.

I'm using the Standard Style. When I try to add the "Rectangular Structure Slab Top Rectangular Frame SI" parts family to the list I get this Error:

MSC.PNG

 I've checked the parts catalog.

PNC.PNG

I tried opening the Parts Builder and verifying the Parts Family and got this result:

PST.PNG

But even after validation and saving I still get the error.

As always any help is appreciated.

Allen

Hey Allen,

Never seen that before but I would wonder if you are ttrying edit the metric catalog when the imperial catalog is the 'current' catalog.

See if SetNetworkCatalog shows the metric catalog as the current catalog. If not set it current or edit the imperial parts.

Hey John,

If you look at the second image in my post it shows the result of SetNetworkCatalog.

How'd Irene treat you? Personally I'm fine but some of the County is kind of a mess.

I've also replaced the AeccPartParamCfg.xml file with the original from the installation with no results.

We were lucky. Some flooding and lots of power outages but it is minor compared to the rest of the storm path.

Grasping at straws.. Did you regen the catalog after adding the new stc? Partcatalogregen.

Good thought but it didn't help. Same error. It says the Metric Structure Catalog isn't set. But it is. I've drilled down in the folders and the parts are there and match the original install.

Thanks

Another piece of the puzzle. Everything seems to be there. But I can't add it.

Nope. I now see Error: Part Type parameter not validated. Now what causes that?

Hello @AllenJessup.

Five years later I'm getting the same error: "ERROR: Part Type parameter not validated".

Do you remember / know why it is happening?

Thanks,

Hi @diegoal,

Unfortunately I'm past remembering everything and I don't find any notes on the topic. All I can find is this from @nzeeben

Did you copy the drawing in windows explorer and then edit? Or did you launch partbuilder and do a save as? Each part must have a unique GUID, copying via windows explorer will retain the same GUID, however a saveas from partbuilder will create a unique and new GUID for your part.

Part type parameter error historical, in part builder they have a part type entry but it's blank. I'm guessing this was for the future but has never been implemented.

Alan,

I have seen this issue before, it was so long ago I can't remember why it occurred. I would suggest a file has been corrupted and so try this:

Move out the entire metric catalogue to somewhere else. Copy over the metric folder from another Working version of Civil3d (previous version will do fine).

If you have customised the aeccpartparam file or used a previous version then copy back over the original file.

Open the original moved metric folder and manually copy the parts out then paste them into the correct metric folder.

Start Civil3d set the catalogue and do a catalogue regen & validate, check the validate file for errors then try again.

This may kick start it back or show where a problem lies. If you have been tweaking the xml file(s) it could just be a typo or missing construct in the xml formatting.

Hello @AllenJessup,

Thanks for your reply. We edited them and then saved as... Now we are checking the xml files looking for errors of IDs.

Thanks again.
