trying to create custom tool palettes C3D 2010

So I am trying to create a TP that has a few commands on it... the problem is I dont know where to start in order to make everything available to the others on my network...

I have created a new GROUP, dragged a palette into that group, made my commands, and they work on my PC... but how do I get them all so everone can see them. Exporting the "command tool samples" and importing it as "My layers" works, but the name is still command tool samples and breaks the actual command tool samples...

I know someone else has been here, done this.... please help

The simplest way is to share the tool palettes in a network location. Go to Options, Files tab, and find Tool Palettes File Locations. Set this to a network shared location.

Thank you on the sharing - I assumed that would work...

The other question of how to create a palette.... and where that is stored.... I know how to create the palette group <right click customize palette, new group> and I know you can drag the palette over to your newly created group... but I have no idea where (CUI?, XTP?) these things are located......

Is there a step-by-step out there somewhere???

There are more elegant ways to share content but I don't have the links - they can be found. If your are concerned with a reasonable amount of work stations, here is how I do it:

1. Create a dedicated location on the server to keep you stuff

2. Create or save a file with content i.e. blocks, linetype dims, etc.

3. Drag or Design center your items to palettes

4. Export the xtp files to the share location in step 1

5. In the options files tab add your share location to the tool pallets node

6. Export your profile to the share location

7. Go to each work station and up date their profiles with the arg file created in step 6

everyone should have access to you TP's now.
