Perhaps Trimble link is not a 64 bit program.

I'm having the same problem with my attempt to install Trimble Link on my 64 bit system. Must be looking for a 32 bit installation of Civil 3D. I hope we see a remedy soon. Edited by: egoetz3@hotmail.com on Apr 24, 2010 10:06 PM

Trimble Support

Unfortunately, Trimble Link for AutoCAD Civil 3D installer, only currently supports 32 bit operating systems and the 32 bit AutoCAD Civil 3D versions. There is no workaround, because: The Trimble link AutoCAD Civil 3D installer is looking for a 32bit AutoCAD install

Best regards,

Carlos

Well that isn't good. Until Trimble updates it for 64-bit, then half of
our office can't use Civil 3D 2011. I wonder if they plan on making one.

Since I have never used a FBK and have always just imported ASCII files with
a thumb drive, what is missing without the Trimble Link that cannot be done
currently.

Well, they better revise THAT statement darn quickly. An awful lot of people have already moved to 64-bit, and more are moving that way every day.

I agree, they need to do something quickly, I can not go to 2011 until I have a Trimble Link that will work with 2011 64bit. They have it working with 2010 64bit so why would they not have it ready for 2011 64bit? I did the download over the weekend and was ready to install and start testing this morning until I seen this problem. This is a real show stopper if they do not come out with something that will run a 64bit system!!!!!!

The problem isn´t windows 7 64bits. Because C3D 2010 worked fine and it was 32bits on a 64bit system.
The problem is that C3D 2011 64bit only install on a 64bit system, you can´t instal C3D 2011 32bit on a Win7 64Bit,
and Trimble link seaches for a C3D 2011 32bit installation.
Damn...

I have been talking with Trimble support, and have verified that Trimble
Link for Civil 3D 2011 will not target 64 bit installations. There are
multiple reasons, but the end result is that they are not sure when they
may be able to provide a solution.

We are aware of the issue and are working to find a possible solution -
stay tuned for further information. Until then, please log a support
request if this problem is impacting you so that we can track how many
users are affected.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info Jason, are you saying we should log a support request with Autodesk for a Trimble problem?

I'd be the first to admit I don't know what all would be involved in rectifying the ability to install Trimble Link on a 64 bit system, but I found the fix for a similar problem with the installation of Raster Design on a 64 bit system was pretty easy. Simply had to change the setup.ini file to look for the installation via the correct path (x86 instead of x64). I understand an executable file is not the same thing as a DVD image, but you'd think it would be something that could be addressed relatively soon. Sure hope so.

That was allowed because Raster Design can install as a 32bit or 64bit
application.

At this point, Link is a 32bit application.

The only solution would be a XP mode version of Civil 3d in 32bit
environment for trimble link connectivity.
