Total volume table - zero values.

Hi again,

I really appreciate the help. Attached are two files: 1 file has 0 values on the volume table, and the other file has Sample line group Properties.

Surface 3 is the surface that has the existing actual survey points . Do I have to pick another surface : the other two are the surfaces I created in the Corridor as surface boundaries , Top and Datum .

Are you trying to get an earthworks volume? You're almost there.

In the Sample Line Group Properties, on the Sections tab, what I would do from where you are:

Change the Quantity Type for Material (5) to Earthworks.

Go up to where it says Select Surface: and in the drop down is Surface3. Press the Plus Sign. Now go back to the dropdown and pick the surface that represents corridor datum. Press the Plus Sign.

Set the Condition of Surface3 to Base and of Datum to Compare. Press OK.

Run your vol report and you should have volumes.

Hi Tim,

I am having the same issue with my volume table yielding zero values for my earthwork.

I have already done the steps that you advised but I'm still getting zero values for my cut and fills. At this point I have hit a dead end on how to proceed.

I see you have two material lists. Are you sure you're selecting the correct one?

Can you post your drawing?

Unfortunately I not able to share the whole drawing file since its confidential.

But, I have deleted the additional material list so ensure that isn't the problem.

I took screen shots of my steps so you can spot if I am doing anything wrong.

Thank you for helping me by the way.

Do the surfaces overlap each other? If not, you will get no volumes...

Sorry for the late reply, but I was away on vacation.

I did check, and they do overlap.

At this point I have forwarded this issue to the designer, since I could not find a solution.

Thank you for your help.
