Symbol for points

I'm using Civil 3D 2015, my previous version was 2009. When I imported points (ussually for surveying), I got on the drawing the symbol for each description; Now, I can not get the symbols to appear, even if I have template that contains blocks which names match the description for the points imported.

How can I get those symbols to be shown for each point? 

For example, in my template I have blocks like PP (power pole, IP(iron pin), MH (manhole), etc., and when I try to select the symbol marker, I can only get to have one block to be shown for all the points, say for example, all the points appear like PP even if they have different description.

I'll appreciate any help on this issue.

I think you should make sure you have description keys set up and applied to your points. Please see this video for reference. It talks about how setup and use Description keys.

It might have to do with your Description Key Set. Might want to check it
