Turn them back on
showts for the toolspace
Ctrl +9 for the command line
Then save the workspace settings.

Also, go to your Workspace Settings and select the option to Automatically save workspace changes.

That was one the annoyances they introduced with the Map workspaces. I also
like to have the task pane open.

Keith,

I personally leave this off by default. That way, if I need to change something temporarily, I make the change. When I'm done with the change, I set the current workspace current again and I'm back the way I want it. If I want to change it permanently, I'll toggle that option on, change my current workspace to the current workspace (hence saving the changes) and then toggle it back off.

I used to have it turned off myself. But then if I went a while without changing workspaces and had moved or added toolbars or whatever and did switch, I lost my changes. Personally, I never remembered to go save it on purpose. That's just me though.

That's one of the cool things about AutoCAD and Civil 3D, I like it one way and you like it the other, we both can have it the way we like it.
