Swap Network Parts

C3D 2012 Sp4

Win 7 Pro

The engineer here created a new storm sewer network without a default parts list.  We have a storm sewer parts list, but it was not used. I need to swap some structure and pipe parts, but the dialog box for this operation is blank.  Can I assign the storm sewer parts list to the existing structures and pipes without have to rebuild the entire storm network?

I think you need to set the path to the new catalog. From the Ribbon's Home tab click the Create Design drop down panel and you will see the command. You can also type SetNetworkCatalog into the command line.

As John Said, check the path.
You do not need to rebuild the entire network bu would have to manually swap the parts.
a work-around would be to set your storm sewer migration setting to what you want upon import. Export to storm sewers where you can globally chang the structures to correspond to the migration settings. Then re-import

Thanks for the responses.  I looked at the pipe network settings and the engineer used a water parts catalog instead of the storm catalog. I switched them and now it is fine.

I have the same issue.  My Swap Part dialog went blank in the middle of my design.  I have no idea what triggered the disappearance or how to get it back.  The path to my catelog folders is correct.

I'm sorry, John. I was thinking of something else when I answered your question.  The answer is, yes, it is still blank when I restart the program.

Is it possible that someone else created the net with a different catalog?

If you browse to the folder in windoz exploder do you see the catalog files?

Does recover help?

Are you trying to swap a part in a referenced network?

I would reset the catalog path and run partcatalogregen to see if that helps.

John,

The catalog files are there and I'm the only one working this project.

John,

Also, I tried an audit and it came back clean.

John,

The network is referenced but not in this drawing.  This is the source drawing.

I ran partcatalogregen but it's still blank.

Tough one Mike. I think you may have a corrupt network if this all works fine in other files. Did you say this only fails on you machine or only this file? If it is your machine only perhaps a repair of the install or try logging on as a new user and see if you can do it. Rule out user profile issues.

I would open part builder and see if finds your part files fine as another confirmation but I think the real solution may be to xml out the network and xml it into a new file to see if things fix.

Bingo!  The export/import xml worked.  Thanks, John.  Happy Easter.

I have also found the same vacant swap part window.  It appeared I needed to confirm the Network Part List for that pipe network to the updated one I created.
