Surface to Stage-Storage

Ack! Is there a quick way to determine or output a stage-area table to create a quick stage-storage in Civil 3d?

or is there a way to query the area of a contour on a surface?

I've got it...I think.

Using an analysis - I've created a Legend to add the area.

But getting the ranges to work seems a little tricky as the dialog box acts top down.

For example, If I edit the range details and then realize that I need one more range ID, I can only ad it to the ranges above. By incrementing this, C3d resets all of the edits to the minimum and maximum elevations.

Uh, wow, explode your surface away, list the resulting polylines. Like
most things in c3d, it's faster to make them primitives, kinda like what
made Autocad so powerful in the first place.....

i posted something on my blog that i thought licked this request, but it
sometimes doesn't give the result exactly the way you want- something about
using the TIN area instead of the contour. I've been meaning to test it-
but I'd love it if you could give it a try.

Maybe make the table i describe, then explode a copy of your surface and
query the contours and see what you come up with.

Dana -

I knew I had seen that somewhere - so thank you for the blog entry. After figuring out how to prepare the chart, I got the results I needed.

At this point the behavior of the analysis tab seems odd to attempt to work at it this way. (Don't get me wrong - I makes some neat and colorful analysis)

The range "spreadsheet" isn't formated for easy editing. I can not add a row to it without using the ranges "area" above. This resets any edits below.

The results are similiar to coffee made in a blender - a little chunky.

I am trying to prepare a record drawing for a detention pond that was built. While I can print the volume calculation, I need to provide the stage-storage curve to prove out that the contractor completed the detention pond with adequate volume regarless of the fact they didn't exactly get the construction correct.

Maybe this is a wishlist item to provide a little more functionality to that dialog box. (probably a little to late for SP2?)
