Surface not importing correctly? Please help!

I built a surface in Land Desktop (using a combination of breaklines, point groups, and boundaries). I imported the surface into a Civil 3D drawing using the "File/Import/Import Data from Land Desktop" menu item.

After I imported the surface, I checked some spot elevations against spot elevations in my Land Desktop drawing file. The elevations are slightly different (on the order of 0.2').

Any ideas on why the difference is occurring and what I need to do to make my surface in Civil 3D match Land Desktop?

Thanks for your help!

hmmm....that's odd. Try something for me? Export the surface from LDT to
an XML file, then import that into Civil 3D. See if there's any
differences there.

Any reason you're building in LDT and importing into C3D? C3D surface
creation is one of my favorite things as opposed to LDT.

Hi Jason,

I tried exporting the surface from LDT to an XML file and importing it - same thing... the elevation are still off.

I'm working on a project that was started in LDT. For doing profiles, etc. I really prefer C3D, so I'm kind of working in both worlds.

Thanks for your help... if you have any other ideas, I would really appreciate any help you could give me.

Try checking the UCS (World) for each.

Are the elevations off by a specific amount? For example, is the entire
surface x' high or low? Or is it random?

Random is bad. If it's a constant amount, figure that amount and adjust
the datum of the surface.

Import your triangles into your LDT drawing and compare them with the triangles in Civil 3d ? Are they the same?

How are you determining that they are off? Check the definition of the surface in Civil 3d ? Be sure you didn't more the surface on accident...

That was it! I accidentally moved the surface slightly and it was throwing off my elevations in some areas. Importing the triangles helped me to see it. Thanks everyone for your help! : )
