surface is repeating in Prospector

i built a surface (titled 'difference') by attaching a point file in the definition pulldown, and now the surface is multipling and my dwg file size is now huge!

you can see in the attached file the dozens of replications of the surface 'difference' with numbers in paranthesis following (not sure what those are referring too), which change/update periodically based on what i am doing on dwg, but i havnt figured out what in particular is causing the surface to mulitply or why.

also, what is the little yellow triangle next the the surface icon - as this seems to identify a status that is preventing me from deleting

thanks!

The triangle means the surface is in use. If you use copy/paste a lot, this can cause surface duplicates if you select the wrong thing. Look in the surface properties dialog box, Definition tab. There could be a clue in there how it was created.

The surfaces can easily be deleted by using the AutoCAD erase command. Right click the surface in the Prospector and hot Select. Move your cursor into the drawing window and hit the delete key.

thank for the quick reply -

i copied a bunch of layout tabs, which seems to be the problem. i started deleting tabs, and voila, when i refreshed the surfaces pulldown, many disappeared. so yes, copy-paste seems to be the culprit.

i still dont understand the yellow triangle - what does "in use" mean? for example, i have several other surfaces, and they dont have triangles assc w their names?

much thanks!

In use means it is referencing something or being referenced by something. ......I think. ..☺
