Surface display with Drive command

I'd like to be able to view my FG surface as a wireframe while using the Drive command so that I can see the pipe network underneath, but no matter what display mode I select the surface shows as a solid and hides the pipes. Is there some setting I'm not seeing? Thanks.

You can do this with transparency.   Assign a transparency value to the layer that is being used to display the surface triangles during 3D model view.   Toggle on transparency on the status bar.

I find with my computer it works best to start the drive command with a 3D view set to Conceptual, Shaded or Realistic display mode.   If I try to set this while in the drive command my display driver will not regenerate correctly.

Hi
With Civil 3D 2014, if changing the Visual style from the Drive ribbon do not work, do the following :

Always from within the drive ribbon, switch the Viewport to "Two Horizontal" then back to "Single".
Now changing the visual style should work.

Hope this helps, Cheers,

Nicolas
