Autocad Civil 3d Help includes Autocad Map 3d Help, where there´s a topic "Working with Industry Models". But the templates and workspaces of these features are not included in Civil 3d. Even if one copy the templates manually from the installer, feature creation is disabled. We bought Civil 3d considering that this software includes whole Map 3d. Is there a documentation that explains how Autodesk made such mess?
There is no documentation I know of on this subject. Unfortunately some commands and whole portions of Map 3D conflict with Civil 3D. The way this has been handled is to disable the conflicting portions of Map within Civil. I've pointed out to Autodesk that when they combined the Map help files with the Civil 3D help files. They did not remove the disabled commands. The answer I received didn't show any concern over this.
A good place for getting a comparison might be with your reseller
In order to get the full version of Map 3D. You need to buy Infrastructure Design Suite (any version). That will include the complete Map 3D program.

Not that I disagree with you. However LDT was originally built on full Map. I believe that the earlier versions of Civil 3D were also with only a few disabled commands. Now a lot of Map overlaps Civil functions. Things like they both will import point clouds. Of course in Autodesk fashion the way Map handles point clouds is not the same way Civil does. So Map point clouds are disabled in Civil 3D.
I would be nice if they could go back and reconcile these conflicts. But often the way a GIS user would expect a process to work is vastly different than a Civil / Survey user.
I do agree that the portions of Map that are disabled in Civil should be listed in a obvious place.

It is perhaps a bit disingeuous of Autodesk to say that civil 3d is built on Map but not the to mention it is, in fact, Map LT ....
I've always wondered why Autodesk hasn't been sued for false advertising regarding this.
Not sure how that would apply? Do they state anywhere that it is fully functional Map3D other than "... based on..."? And the simple "no guarantee that it will do what you want it to" clause in the EULA puts a full stop to that line of thinking.

I'd suggest that the EULA is pretty watertight as regards any possible user litigation .....
That's true, except in order to get to the EULA you have to purchase and install it, unless you got the trial.
It is a real problem in my company.
I have users that needs more features from AutoCAD Map than Civil.
But we decided to upgrade all users to Civil considering that these Map users would be supplied with the solution, and now I see we were fooled by Autodesk´s information omission and a lack of integration between the architectural, commercial and documentational team. It seems they really don´t know the mess that was created: Civil help includes features that are not available.
A solution that Autodesk would supply to this issue is to develop an installer like the InfraStructure suite; that installs Civil and AutoCad Map as separate products.
Well. They already have Infrastructure Design Suite. So I doubt that's going to happen.
Did you deal with a reseller on this upgrade. They should have asked your requirements and made it clear that all the functions of Map wouldn't be included.
Maybe if you go back to them and outline the trouble that this has caused. They might be able to give a good deal on IDS.
