Subassembly Composer Help (Peter Funk?)

Attached is a shoulder sub I am trying to complete.

My sticking point is defining the "slope", which I want to be an input parameter, from P6 to P7.

L7 needs to tie to this slope while maintaining the superelevation.

Any guidance would be appreciated..

Dell Precision 7720
i7 7700HQ
NVIDIA Quadro P3000

For P7 use an Intersection Point.

Type: Intersection: TwoPointsSlope

Point1: P6

Slope1: UserSlope

Point2: P5

Slope2: L1.slope

You will then define the two links from P6 to P7 and from P5 to P7.

Hope that helps! Sincerely, "Not Peter Funk"

Kati,

How do you modify the sub to use any of the super choices?

As I have it, it only uses the right outside shoulder.

There are lots of different ways you can do it depending on what you are looking for. Do you want the user to pick what they want? If so you would need to have an Input Parameter that would give them the ability to pick (either using the Superelevation type that already exists or define your own Enumeration). You may also want to incoporate the SE.HasLeftSO=true (or whichever you are looking for)  to confirm that the superelevation exists before trying to use it.

I can't seem to open this .pkt file in SA Composer 2012. (Is this maybe a 2011 or 2013 file)? Could someone please post a screen shot of the preview screen so I can see what you're talking about. I think I have a similar issue. Thanks in advance.

It is a 2013 Subassembly.

Attached is a screenshot of it.

Hi Peter,

I saw online that you had a variable slope daylight subassembly for 2016. Unfortunately, I'm using 2014. Would you have something similar for 2014 or know where I can get it?

Thanks

@jnjhuz you can create this pretty simply on your own. You just find the ratio of where you are in the region and ratio the start and end values accordingly. This is also covered in my AU2017 lecture mentioned in my signature line.

I don't know if I can build a subassembly with parameters in 2014 but I will look into this. Thanks!

Once you make the pkt file this will allow you to vary any input parameter in any stock Civil 3D subassembly. You will insert this subassembly before the one you want to vary in Civil 3D and then set the Start and End values that you want. Then on the Construction tab you will go to the stock subassembly that you want to vary and check the checkbox for Use Parameter Reference and from the dropdown you will select this varied output parameter.

I don't have 2014 anymore to test but it should work, I am pretty sure all of these features were available then.

HellO katy, do you have access to the pkt file? is this something you can share?

If not whats SA.islayout?

thanks

PKT is attached (delete the .zip at the end of the file name)

SA.islayout just governs how the subassembly behaves when in layout and not run as part of a corridor. Otherwise it doesn't know what value to use when you are adding it to an Assembly.
