Strange behavior with Vault

I have a project in Vault that currently only has 2 drawings in it: alignment, and surface. The alignment drawing has the EG surface referenced in. I had my working folder set to C:\Civil 3D projects, but decided to change it to a shared network folder. When I check out the alignment drawing with working folder set to the network share, the EG reference is broken. If I move back to the local folder, the reference comes back.
Also, no matter which folder is set as my working folder, the normal right click - check in, undo check in, etc. options are not present for this drawing. No status bubble either. I've attached an image to show this. Is this drawing just permanently damaged? Do I need to create a new one? If anyone knows, please help!

Thanks,
Kevin
