Have the Civil 3D stormwater programs been left to die on the vine?
Nothing innovative has been done with them the past few years for us subscribers, and now months of conspicuously unanswered questions in the stomwater forum.
JEEZ - how to unsubscribe from this topic?
Scott,
It was extremely disappointing and frustrating to hear you are working on new drainage capabilities within Infraworks while we civil engineers and designers continue to flounder without the required drainage tools to interact with our final design models in Civil 3D.
The Hydraflow Storm Sewers utilizes an Import/Export paradigm that creates a bottleneck in design shops. Other design shops have communicated this to me.
Furthermore, Hydraflow Storm Sewers utilizes the FHWA Approximate Method for HGL/EGL calculations. The FHWA is clear on this, the Approximate Method is not to be used for final design. Yet, Autodesk continues to market this software to consumers as a final design solution for stormwater.
Furthermore, Hydraflow Storm Sewers is currently defective regarding the inlet control portion of the HGL/EGL calculation, therefore rendering it not useful for even preliminary design.

....but not suprising as the Infraworks development is Cloud based and this is the future..................for conceptual designers...
The guys at the sharp end need robust tools to do the job....perhaps even more so...!!!

I cannot answer your question directly, but if you haven't seen it, here is a nice starting Video for SSA. Note that the man (Chris Maeder) doing the video is the founder of BOSS International. Boss eventually sold SSA to Autodesk. There are several other links on this page for other portions of SSA.
After the sale Chris probably worked for Autodesk for about a year.
