Station control reference point

I am noticing in Civil 3D 2010 that if the reference point of the station control is at a midpoint of an alignment that all geometry point labels on the alignment show the same station callout as the closest geometry point “above” the reference point station and none of the horizontal geometry points “below” the reference point will show in the profile view.

The station callouts update and you can label station and offset at locations less than the reference point, but it will not recognize those geometry point locations.

I just experienced this 'feature' in a new drawing. My known station
reference is near the end of the alignment, as soon as I set the station
control all geometry point labels showed the new end station. I fixed it by
noting what the beginning station is the resetting the reference point back
to the start point.
