Split Profile Views and OSNAP cause crash

I've been trying to use the automated plan & profile production tools with 2010, but haven't quite gotten the final product I wanted so I've resorted to manually setting up my own "viewframes" to align my viewports with. However, when I snap to either the top right of my profile view or the bottom right of my profile view, Civil 3d automatically crashes. This makes creating closed rectangular polylines to act as "viewframes" around my profile view very frustrating since at some point or another I'll forget to turn osnap off and blam!, civil3d is gone. It only happens with split profile views and it only seems to happen at the right side of the profile. It doesn't seem to happen at splits. It has happened in 2 different drawings. It has happened with different profile view styles. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some reason this is happening?

Update: It only happens when Node is enabled in OSNAP so I can Node and be fine, at least until the next day I forget to disable Node while doing something near a profile. Very annoying. Edited by: mcward27 on Mar 29, 2010 8:37 PM

Hello mcward27,

Would you please submit a crash report so we can ensure that we are
addressing the same issue you are reporting? Once you submit a report,
send me an email: first.lastname in sig below, at autodesk.com. I was
able to recreate a crash, but it doesn't match your situation exactly
with regard to happening only at the right side of the profile view.

I have the exact same problem with Civil3D 2012 (Service Pack 1). Is there a solution to this problem yet?

This has been logged as defect 1436364, and C3D 2013 includes the fix.  For now the workaround is as the original poster said in his post...disable the node osnap to avoid the crash.

Civil 3D 2012 Update 2 includes a fix for DID 1436364 mentioned above.  Hope that helps.

I'm getting this same exact problem with split (multiple) profile views in 2019, 2021, 2022 Civil 3D.  All updates installed, windows, dell, and autodesk.  I've even deleted the profiles and started over, to no avail.  When I copy a piece of text into the views with osnaps on it crashes- I even turned off the NODE osnap but no change.  I've submitted about 100 error reports.

Additionally, I'm projecting plan view feature lines into the split profile views- just noticed that when I explode the projected profile view feature line it doesn't crash when I copy a piece of text to it with osnaps on.
