Split Profile Elevation Labels

Does anybody know how to either separate the profiles when they are split or to have the elevation label reside on the side of the profile that it is displaying? My problem is I have a split profile that is unclear to some people as to which label goes with which profile.

In 09 we couldn't split them with any spacing like you have shown. I was
seriously hoping they'd fix it in SP1, 2 or 3 (3.1? version 4?) but as far
as I know that didn't happen. So I've had to copy the profile view a few
times and set different Station ranges for each until I get the whole thing.

Seemed to work OK with surface profiles, but I was getting some weird bugs
doing that with piping profiles where the piep at the end of one section
would spray/taper off to some random point outside of the profile view.
With that one I had to go back to the old school method of creating the
entire profile view as one long view and setting up my splits in layout
sheets using viewports and elevation labels placed as text in the layout
view.

Sorry not much help.
