Source for DEM Files

Anyone know a good source for DEM files?  Geocomm has STDS DEM's but last time I tried them they looked like junk. I can't seem to find the layer on the national map server or earth explorer.  I need DEM's for the SW United States.

Thanks!

National Map serves DEMs but they are in NED format. Civil 3D can read the NEDs but you have to manually direct it to the appropriate file in the dataset. There are several posts about this on the forum.

The NED is more current than DEM but there are many sites offering DEMs via Google search if you have a need for them.

Thanks Neil, that's helpful. From your email I was able to locate this video showing exactly that:
