snapping to points using point number input

We are presently switching over to Civil 3D from Terramodel (Thank God!) But there is one nice feature of Terramodel that I can't replicate in C3D - If I want to draw a line from point "1024" to point "1026 I can just type in the point number when prompted for the beginning and ending of a line. Does anyone know how this can be accomplished in C3D?

That's what the Transparent Commands are for. Do a search in Help for "Transparent command reference" and the top item will be a list of them. In this case, the command you're after is 'PN.

This is called a "transparent command" and can be found, surprisingly
enough, on the transparent commands toolbar. I don't have my laptop up
right now, or I'd do a screen cap and post it.

You can also type 'PN at the command prompt - for example, start the
line command, and when it says "Pick Start Point", type 'PN, then enter
the point number - you can do individual points or a range of points
this way.

Phew - TYVM
My version of C3D still has that command in the menu as .P but doesn't work - 'PN works perfectly I'll change the command in the menu. I have updated to SP3 so maybe just my Canadian Version!!!

Anyone know if you can connect a range of point numbers in C3D 2006? I don't see an option in 'PN for a range.

What a little help documentation will do. I am annoyed I didn't learn this on page one of the tutorials for points so I'll respond to my own question in case anyone searches for it here again.

Start the polyline command.

type 'pn for the point number transparent command.

type a point number(which I knew), or range of points(which I just learned) to connect them.

for example type 1,10-90,500-510 to connect 1 to 10 then 10 through 90, then 500 through 510 all with one polyline.
