I though that I could contribute something that I found out since I have often used this forum to get me outta'
trouble.
While playing with surfaces I notice that on two of my jobs (one with a surface of about 500,000 sf and another
one with 12,000 sf) my surface would slow down my drawing to the point where it took (no lie) 1-2 minutes to swap
an edge or anything that had to do with modifying it.
So what I did was:
a) Exported the surface to a LandXML file
b) Delete the surface from my drawing
c) Imported the LandXML file and presto!!!
Now the pros and cons:
Pros
a) Drawing size decreased
b) Edit time decreased
c) QSave time decreased
Cons (So far)
a) The contour labels disappeared
b) After exporting the surface to a LandXML file, you can not delete it if you have a profile made from it.
c) The XML file becomes linked to the drawing....help!!!
d) I tried to add points but was unsuccessful.
What makes this work? I can only guess it has to do with the amount of surface "edits" that are saved in the drawing which are cleared once you export the surface. Please let me know if this works for ya'.
