Sites are being duplicated

I have a customer that has a drawing that keeps duplicating sites and putting feature lines on top of each other.  What would be causing this?

I don't want to be insulting, but I would suspect user error.  Possibly indiscreet use of select similar, or something along those lines?

No we have ruled that out already.  It seems that the AUDIT command is recreating the site and duplicating the feature lines.

If you haven't done a "repair of the installation", I would do that first.

Todd, I don't have an answer, but I would be curious to know: Does the same thing happen with RecoverAll? With Fix errors turned off in Audit? Possibly the Audit routine is finding fault with the Site and the duplication is its attempt to re-create the defective object? This doesn't happen to other drawings, right?

If you wblock the entities that make up the Site, do you get the same error when you audit that drawing?

Maybe they are coping and pasting FLines into the file. If you copy a fl and paste it on top of the original you will wind up with a duplicate site.

You know guys, it's really hard to tell what exactly is causing this.  The reason I say this is that the customer never tells you EXACTLY what they have done.  You ask them if they do something and they say no, then you find out later that they did do it.  I'm going to mark this one up as "user error".  Thanks for the feedback guys.

I'll bet this is the reason. It makes sense. Many people routinely use copy/paste without knowing the consequences.

For anyone needing a workaround: copy and paste polylines and then create feature lines from them.

Or just copy/paste the FL, but know that you have to 'Move to Site' afterwards.

When the Audit runs does it actually report that it fixed anything, or does it just duplicate the site?
