What is the trick to get them not to overlap? I have a three sided box, it's actually the top of a 'U' shaped berm. The inside of the berm needs to project down to the surface at a 1:1 slope. The outside of the berm needs to go down on a 2:1, or maybe even a 3:1. The 'U' is 6' across for its length. What's the trick?

When you apply the grading, choose No when promtped to apply the entire length and then set start and end points for the region you want to be 2:1. Repeat for the 1:1 region. Leave gaps between the regions and apply a transition grading to fill them in.
I just came here to post this, but now I have another thing to try. So I guess I'll be googling "transition grading" now. My problem is selecting the corners that are shared between the two gradings. I guess I don't do that.
Here is where I'm at, before trying the "transition grading."
