Simple Drafting Tools

Are there any toolbars or simple commands to insert barscales, north
arrow, borders, and misc. symbols without having to insert as a block?
Something similar to Eaglepoint drafting module.

Thanks,

MH

If you've got Land Desktop Companion, here's a workable solution:

Maybe one day the development team will include symbol manager in C3D.

i kinda got the vibe that toolpalettes were supposed to be the substitute

but they aren't canned setup like the symbol manager..

duh, i just went and read your link, such is your solution.

everytime i get a good idea, Nick and James had it first. shucks.

I have been using the Symbol Manager from the days of Softdesk, so I have
built up quite a large library of blocks. Since Symbol Manager is not
included in Civil 3D, my only option is to recreate this functionality using
Tool Palettes. I have hard time justifying this effort, which is required as
a result of upgrading our software to a better and more advanced product
than Land Desktop, or is it? Granted, the design functionality is better,
however, for drawing production it is lacking. This means we have to use
both products to produce our contract drawings. Is this progress?

Sometimes when you get a newer better car, you have to clean out the trunk
on the old one. Or when you buy a new house, you still have to pack up and
move, and reorganize.
Is that progress? That depends on what your goals are.
Technology is a changing animal. If you build your operation on it, then you
will have to expect several significant changes during a lifetime of a
career, and plan for them. Budget, time, effort, motivation all that goes
into it. It's the cost of running a business.

My question would be how much of a project time do you spend percentage-wise
inserting north arrows versus stationing and doing design. Looking at C3D on
an individual element level is a losing proposition. Look to the entire
process to see the returns.

Well, some of old "retards" had a time adjusting to "North always up!" (NR
Days, DO NOT START NR!)
Now it is a piece of cake with "Silver 3D".
