I have some images in EPS that I would like to trace. AutoCAD does not seem to recognise EPS, but I can convert them to PDF or DWF which AutoCAD can read. I can snap to the DWF and PDF objects and manually trace with a polyline, but I was wondering if there is a way to get shrinkwrap to work on the images?

I found that I can export from Illustrator directly to the AutoCAD 2004 file format. It creates blocks which contain splines and hatches. The hatches need to be reset, but the splines look good at first glance.
I still have the problem with PDFs for those images that I don't have in EPS.
Does anyone know of a cheaper program than Illustrator that will do the same conversion? I downloaded a trial, but the EULA won't allow commerical work with a trial version. I have found a few other programs online, but don't know anything about them other than what is on the webpage.
