Shift Key Remove Selection

Hi, for some unknown reason when I select a group of objects then hold SHIFT KEY and deselect an object the shift key is not working. This just started out of the blue. I have tried all of the pickadd, pickfirst, etc... commands to no avail. Anyone have any solutions to this problem. Thanks. CIVIL 3D 2005 w/ ALL AVAILABLE SP'S, FIXES, ETC. do you have raster image installed too ? If so there is an option for raster image that over rides the issue.
you need to unselect the check box option for sift select to acquire image. or something close to that.
