Shapefile datum issue

PCPG has just released new data pertaining to Pennsylvania Geology. I am attempting to import the information into my project file that is on the NAD 1983, State Plane Pennsylvania North Feet coordinate system (PA83-NF) but AutoCAD is not reading the datum of the import file. I checked and the PRJ file is with the shapefile and the datum is defined in the file. Any help with this issue is appropriated.

The file can be downloaded here:

I might have to go that way, but was told to exhaust all other avenues before I did.

Not really a bad suggestion. As long as your being given the time to figure it out. Great.

What program are you using? That looks a lot easer than the interface I have (Civil 3D 2011).

The pictures are helpful, but because of program discrepancies (or user error) my data is landing thousands of miles south east and rotated approximately sixty degrees. When I was defining the datum I only found the two below tabs to impute the system data in.

I'm using C3D 2012.  I guess I should have used an older version.

The issue with your data being off is; you are picking a geodetic system and you should be picking non-geodetic/ellipsoid (Clark 1866).

I don't have access to Civil 2012 yet. Our IT staff has not upgraded the license file because most of the staff is still on the 2009 releases.

I attached the wrong image. The above discription is using the non-geodetic/ellipsoid (Clark 1866) setting.

I think the biggest problem I am having is that I cannot choose to use NAD 27 as a base datum like you do in step three of the images. It appears like I only have access to step four, defining the coordinate system, which is the two tabs that I provided screen shots of (unless I am missing something).

Hi Walter,

With the help of Martin (well detailed), I created the CS that you need. Please use this drawing that has the custom CS already assigned to it, as soon as you open the drawing you should have the new CS added to your library.

Hope this will help you.
